Description of the house
La Corvaxella is uniquely situated in stunning and unspoilt nature near Culla in the province of Castellon. This very comfortable house is provided with all conveniences. It seems as if time has stood still in this area. Local women still wash their clothes in the public water basins and nature is truly spectacular. It’s the ultimate spot for those who appreciate nature, hiking and tranquillity interrupted only by the tinkling bells of passing herds of sheep with their shepherd!! Although time may well have stood still in this area, the house (with preservation of authentic features like natural stone walls and wooden beams) has been totally adapted to modern living standards with amenities such as central heating, a WII video game system, flat screen television set and not to forget the truly completely equipped kitchen. The entirely fenced terrace is grand and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the awesome environment. Here you’ll also find a spacious outdoor kitchen/diner, barbecue and paellero to prepare your own Valencian paella. Through a small lockable gateway alongside the house, whilst going uphill, you’ll reach the upper terrace. From this terrace a path leads to the sun terrace with the spring water pool (4x2x1m). The water is chlorine-free because it is refreshed constantly.
Surroundings of La Covarxella
The house is near the hamlet of El Molinell consisting of an agglomeration of a few houses and a water spring where the locals get their water and on the edge of the magnificent El Maestrazgo area, a wild, mountainous region with villages on rocks and overwhelming landscapes. It is also the land of the legendary El Cid who went to battle against the Moors and to whom many villages are named. Directly from the house you can go for beautiful walks. The nearest villages of La Torre d´En Besora and Culla, approx. 10 minutes by car, have a few bars, a small supermarket and a restaurant. On the way to Culla you’ll find another restaurant (only open in summer). The coast is accessible within a one hour drive, where you can still find unspoilt beaches (without facilities) in La Serra d’Irta Nature Park or you can visit the more touristic bath resort of Benicasim. Worth visiting is also the ancient city of Peñiscola, a fortified seaport built on a rocky headland. Valencia City is accessible in approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes by car. More inland you can consider visiting Villafranca del Cid (40 minutes by car), the medieval Cantavieja situated on top of a rock (approx. 1 hour by car) and Pitarque (a 1.5 hour drive) with its waterfall and natural spring of the river carrying the same name.
