Surroundings of this holiday home in the Axarquia
Salares is one of the best preserved villages in the province of Malaga. The quiet village with 150 inhabitants is located on the "Route of the Mudejar". Its most beautiful feature is the minaret tower of St. Anne's Church (formerly a mosque), declared a National Historic Monument in 1979. The village is characterized by its whitewashed houses of typical Moorish design and for its steep and winding streets. Furthermore, Archez, Canillas de Albaida and Competa are close by. The Sierra Tejeda-Almijara Natural Park is a carefully preserved area of spectacular natural beauty teeming with wildlife, including deer, mountain goats, hawks and eagles. Besides being a paradise for nature lovers, the park is also a paradise for hikers. Alternatively, there is a choice of sandy beaches just 30 minutes by car, whilst the beautiful seaside town of Nerja is also not far away - a visit to the famous Nerja Caves is well worth the effort.
